The highly anticipated comedy Table for Six 2 — the reigning box office champion in Hong Kong during Spring Festival — will be released in Guangdong province on Friday, and across the rest of the country on Saturday.
Reuniting most of the ensemble cast from the first hit movie, which won 11 nominations at the 41st Hong Kong Film Awards, the sequel focuses on two half-brothers and their girlfriends as they make wedding preparations leading to a series of chaotic events that arise from the protagonists' fear of marriage.
Sunny Chan, who returns as director, revealed during a promotional event in Beijing on Tuesday that the second installment delves deeper into the relationships between lovers.

Chan, who also wrote the script, added that the sequel continues the spirit of the first movie, and explores the ways marriage can last a lifetime.
Aiming to fill the gap in post-Spring Festival offerings, the movie will be released in two dubbed versions — Cantonese and Mandarin.
Fu Bowen, who oversaw dubbing for the Mandarin version, said that the team made slight revisions to some lines to ensure that the jokes, originally written in Cantonese, would convey the subtleties of the humor and be more relatable to a Mandarin-speaking audience.
