The Shenzhen International Chamber of Commerce was established in 1988, formerly known as the Shenzhen Chamber of Commerce of the International Chamber of Commerce of China. It is a chamber of commerce organization composed of enterprises, groups, and other organizations engaged in international commercial activities, as well as industry celebrities. Its responsibilities are to promote fair trade and investment, unite government enterprises, represent industry and commerce, promote economic and trade exchanges among members, serve enterprises in global commercial activities, and provide professional commercial legal services such as mediation and arbitration in accordance with international rules and practices.
In 1988, with the approval of the State Council, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) established the China International Chamber of Commerce (CCOIC) and represented China in the Paris based global organization, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). It is a national chamber of commerce that represents China and participates in the work of the ICC. When conducting business related to the ICC, it uses the name of the ICC China National Committee. In the same year, the local branch of the China International Chamber of Commerce was established. The Shenzhen Chamber of Commerce of the China International Chamber of Commerce (the predecessor of the Shenzhen International Chamber of Commerce) is the only representative agency of ICC China in Shenzhen. As an important international economic organization, the International Chamber of Commerce has a special position in the formulation and supervision of international rules and practices, and plays an important role in international investment, trade, and cooperation. Therefore, in China, the International Chamber of Commerce and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade are two brands, one institutional system.
According to the needs of Shenzhen's socio-economic development, in 2005, under the name of "Shenzhen International Chamber of Commerce", an independent registration application was submitted to the Shenzhen Civil Affairs Bureau and the first general meeting of members was held. The Vice Mayor of Shenzhen Municipal People's Government and the heads of large groups such as OCT Group, ZTE, China Merchants Bank and BYD served as honorary presidents, and the heads of hundreds of representative and powerful enterprises and institutions from all walks of life in Shenzhen served as vice presidents or (executive) directors of the Chamber of Commerce, making the Shenzhen International Chamber of Commerce wide, representative and progressiveness.
Since its establishment, the Shenzhen International Chamber of Commerce has always taken serving the development of enterprises as its fundamental task, and taking improving the international competitiveness of enterprises as its goal. Relying on the resources of the national trade promotion system, it has established extensive economic and trade contacts with embassies and consulates, business circles, and business associations in more than 120 countries and regions around the world, providing enterprises with government and enterprise exchanges, international economic and trade exchanges, domestic and foreign investment promotion, international exhibition services, and legal services Information services and training services, handling international certification, commercial certification, organizing industrial salons, and 19 professional services in eight major sectors of public welfare activities. In recent years, the Shenzhen International Chamber of Commerce has mainly provided the following services to enterprises:
（1） Organize enterprises to participate in various exhibitions held annually, such as the Shenzhen (International) Financial Expo, the Shenzhen (International) Biological/Life Health Industry Exhibition, and the China (Shenzhen) International Unmanned Systems Technology Exhibition;
（2） Organize enterprises to participate in exhibitions and training overseas, conduct investment and trade cooperation visits, business negotiations, and hold overseas investment promotion activities;
（3） Organize enterprises to participate in international and domestic regional economic cooperation, encourage enterprises to do a good job in Shenzhen headquarters economy, and deeply cultivate external markets;
（4） Helping enterprises cope with international trade barriers and successfully explore new markets, and handling various types of commercial certification services for enterprises from the CCPIT: handling certificates of origin for goods, preferential certificates of origin for the China ASEAN Free Trade Zone, commercial certificates, ATA documents, consular certification, handling business invitations for foreign businessmen to China, one-time temporary trips to Guangdong and Hong Kong, ATA documents and information entry books, etc;
（5） Relying on the Shenzhen Commercial Mediation and Litigation Cooperation Mechanism established by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, it provides commercial mediation services for members, and, based on the needs of members, conducts judicial confirmation or arbitration decisions on mediation agreements with courts or arbitration institutions, ensuring the enforceability of mediation agreements, and safeguarding the legal rights and interests of members.
In the context of China's major national strategy of "the the Belt and Road" construction, the demand of Chinese enterprises for foreign investment and trade cooperation is growing rapidly. In particular, Shenzhen enterprises are increasingly willing to go global in terms of products, technology, services and capital.
